Vanessa Jo Wilmond, age 41, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Vanessa was born on February 15, 1985, to Marcus Ike Wilmond and Marcella Sue Taylor in Ada, Okla. She attended and graduated from Ardmore City Schools with the Class of 2004. Vanessa went off to Haskell Indian Nation University for two years. She moved to Durant and worked at Indian Nation Wholesale. In 2008, she moved back to Ardmore where she started working at Michelin, Dollar General and then Flanders. In 2018 she moved to Norman, where she worked at the Riverwind Casino at the buffet.
She will be remembered for her cake decorating. Vanessa was a diehard OU Softball fan and faithfully followed all OU sports, as well as Thunder basketball. She treasured time spent with her nieces and nephews, especially doing arts and crafts and cheering them on at their games. Above all, being with her family was always her top priority, and she cherished every gathering and cookout shared with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, paternal grandparents, Kelsey and Ella Mae Willmond, maternal grandparents, Pauline and John Taylor, paternal uncles, Ray Willmond, Ronald Willmond, and Larry Shoemaker, maternal aunts, Marquetta Gratner, Lomedia Ash, Mary Ann Melton and Louise Bird Taylor and maternal uncles, Austin Ray Taylor, Leo Taylor and Leonard Taylor.
Vanessa is survived by her brothers, Dustin Wilmond and his fiancé, Yanasa Charcoal, Tyler Wilmond and Todd Wilmond, Two nephews and one niece; Jeramiah Wilmond, Emkv Wilmond, and Tyus Wilmond, and aunts, Melissa Mose, Terrie Sampson and husband Ronnie, Myrna Boston, Doreen Martinez, and Tammie Stiles.
