Charles Stanley Scroggins passed on from this world on April 8th, 2026, at the age of 91 years old. He was born in Francis, Oklahoma on September 1st, 1934, to father, John Franklin Scroggins and mother, Essie Akins.
Charles had many joyful memories of his childhood in Francis. Charles’ family later moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he attended Crooked Oak High School. After he graduated, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. He did his basic training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas and was later stationed at Fort Slocum in New Rochelle, New York. He returned and was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company, where he retired after 34 years of service.
Charles had a great sense of humor. While his family was trying to get him to discuss end of life plans, not an easy thing to do, he still let his sense of humor shine. He responded to the conversation “It’s not that complicated to die” making the family laugh as he always did. He enjoyed many hobbies such as boating, watching sports, and growing okra in his garden.
He loved quail hunting, but bowling was his favorite. He was known to have a skillful left-handed curve ball and bowled several 300 games. In his later years of life, Charles enjoyed going to the casino, eating many good meals, and spending time with family and friends. Charles was very proud of his Native Choctaw-Indian heritage.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nelda, son Curtis Scroggins, brothers: Wib, O.C. “Spud”, and Ted, sisters: Thelma and Helen.
