Choctaw District 5 member, Loretta Bowers, retired from teaching on June 30, 2025, after a 38-year career.
Loretta graduated from Kinta School in 1980. After receiving her degree in elementary education in 1984 from ECU in Ada, she returned to Kinta to begin her teaching career there. Loretta taught at Kinta longer than any other teacher in the school’s history. Since retiring, she has enjoyed attending the senior luncheons at the District 5 center and is looking forward to becoming more involved with it.
Loretta is the daughter of the late Willie and Marie Harris Bowers and the granddaughter of original Choctaw enrollee Susan Riddle Harris.
