
Mary Alcantara 83, a long-time resident of the New Orleans area, passed away on March 22, 2025, at home, with her son and sister beside her after a brave battle, fought long and hard, against various health issues.
She was born September 17, 1941, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Eugene & Dacie Mc Gee, where she lived until moving to New Orleans at age 18.
She found her soul mate and partner for life when she married her husband Willie Alcantara, they were together for 46 years. They owned and operated the Lark Lounge on Veterans Blvd for 25 amazing years.
Mary was a fierce Mama Bear and very proud of her cubs. She loved food and entertaining her family and friends by firing up the grill, planning seafood boils, or getting the smoker going.
She loved traveling the world with her sister, from Hawaii throughout Europe, and coast to coast in the USA.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Willie, daughter Sandy Breazeale, and sister Elaine Winnow.
She is survived by her sister KC Fox, her partner, Markus Wilson, son Keith [Dayna] Breazeale, son Kevin Breazeale, daughter Kellie [Richard] Pullen, stepdaughter Tiffany Alcantara Cochran, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many relatives/friends near & far, and her beloved Fur Baby, Zorro.
