Marvin Morris Sam, 90, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at his home.
Marvin, affectionately known by all as Uncle Marv, was born on January 27, 1935, in Summerfield, Oklahoma to James Sam and Nellie (Ripley) Sam.
Marvin was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard, attended college at Haskell Indian Nations University, where he ran track with Billy Mills. Marvin worked as a brick layer in McAlester, Oklahoma City and Dallas, Texas areas.
Uncle Marv will be remembered as a quiet man, enjoyed watching OU football, and spending time with his family, only if OU was NOT playing! He was also an avid pool player.
He is survived by his brother, Virgil Sam of Albion, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents: James Sam and Nellie (Ripley) Sam; brothers: Clifford, Cornelius, Louie, Jimmy, and Mario Sam; nieces: Pamela Sam, Theresa Sam, and Esther Gill; and nephews: Sonny Sam, and Carlos Sam.
