G. Kendal Wilson

G. Kendal Wilson passed away July 20, 2025. He was born Aug 12, 1943, in Kermit, TX, the son of Gordon Kendal Wilson Sr. and Eunice Lee Trout Wilson. He grew up in Odessa, TX, and graduated from Odessa High School in 1963. Kendal then attended Texas Tech before joining the US Marine Corps on Jan 20, 1966. He served as a helicopter mechanic during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge on Jan 19, 1970.

On Sept 24, 1989, he married his soulmate, Brenda Shadid. They made their home in Oklahoma City and created a beautiful life together. Kendal went to work for his in-laws as co-manager of Pancho’s Liquortown.

Kendal enjoyed working with wood, cars and studying history. He had a green thumb and raised an incredible vegetable garden. Kendal loved playing golf and was a die-hard sports fan. He was a huge Thunder fan, holding season tickets from the first season until Covid, as well, an avid Texas Longhorn fan. He was a sharpshooter in the Marines and enjoyed shooting guns. He also loved animals. He was a faithful member of St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Brenda; their son and his fiancé, Brent and Natasha, grandson, Avery Michael, as well as Natasha’s daughter, Ray; his brother, Keith, and nephews, Nathan and Andrew. Additional survivors include his older children, Kendra and Clay. He is also survived by his beloved in-laws, mother-in-law, Joyce Shadid, brothers-in-law, Tad Shadid, wife Debbie, and their children Laney and Kyle; and Jeff Shadid, wife Renae, and their children Nicole and Nathan, as well as numerous extended relatives and friends.
