Elena “Dolly” Gaines, 98 of Collinsville, OK passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Owasso, OK. She was born March 11, 1927, in Wilburton, OK to Alphus M Redwine, and the former Artemissa M Graham. She lived in Collinsville for 12 years having moved from Wewoka, OK where she lived 63 years. In Wewoka, Dolly built a home and family with her husband, Hulen Gaines, where they raised their two children. She was a master seamstress who created beautiful clothes and quilts made in prayer for those to whom she was gifting them. She was a longtime member of Hilltop Free Will Baptist Church in Wewoka and then Wolf Free Will Baptist Church. She played the piano for church services and offered ready help in tending to the needs of others. Her faith in Christ was paramount in her life.
She is survived by 2 children: Michael Hulen Gaines and his wife Lana of Colorado City, TX and Susan Fain and her husband George of Collinsville. 5 grandchildren: Brittne Carson and her husband Jason, Andrea Hines and her husband Randy, Julie Dulin and her husband Jason, Russell Fain and his wife Iris, and Abi Fain; 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and 1 sister: Eva Lee Rich of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years: Hulen Gaines; 1 great-grandson: Nathan Dulin; and 10 of her siblings.
Funeral services were held May 27, 2025, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
