
Albert Van Shomo, Sr., age 70, of Bethel, Oklahoma, died on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was born on Sunday, September 11, 1955, to Van Shomo and Virginia Peters Jefferson in Talihina, Oklahoma.
Albert was a proud lifetime member of Kulli Chito Presbyterian Church in Bethel, Oklahoma. His faith was steady, and his love for his church family ran deep. He held a special, enduring love for his mother, missing her greatly throughout his life.
For 12 years, Albert served the State of Oklahoma with dedication and pride. Outside of work, he found joy in simple, meaningful things like fishing the rivers for bass, spending time outdoors, and working on cars in the shade.
Albert lived with strength, loyalty, and a quiet kindness, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and family.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Roydale Jefferson, Eugene Jefferson and Jeffery Jefferson.
Albert is survived by his three sons, Chicoty Shomo of De Queen, Arkansas, Albert Shomo, Jr. of Idabel and Cameron Shomo of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mindy Shomo of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; two brothers, Russell Jefferson of Atoka, Oklahoma and Huey Jefferson of Bethel, Oklahoma; two sisters, Patricia Shomo of Bethel, Oklahoma and Deloris Samuels of Idabel, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; several other nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
