Naomi M. (Horton) Downey

Naomi M. (Horton) Downey, 90, of Ratliff City, was born July 6, 1934, at Hennepin, OK, to Mr. Paul Horton and Mrs. Willie Mae (Sam) Horton. She went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at her home in Ratliff City surrounded by her family.

Naomi was raised in Hennepin attending school at Hennepin, Woodford and Fox. On July 31, 1951, in Ardmore, OK she married Herman Downey, and they made their home in Ratliff City. In 1975, she started her accounting business and retired in 2018. During those 43 years, she had clients from many states, who became lifelong friends. She and Herman enjoyed traveling in their RV with grandson Seger, and taking cruises. Her hobbies included, collecting antique lamps and walking canes. She loved to cook and was always ready to prepare a meal for anyone who stopped by. She discovered she enjoyed flying, and after obtaining her pilots license, she purchased and flew her own plane. She was always proud of her Choctaw heritage. Her faith was a major part of her life, she helped established the First United Pentecostal Church of Ratliff City.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband of 72 years Herman Downey, grandson Seger Drew Downey, brother Chester Horton and sister-in-law Mary, brother Lelburn Horton, adopted son Cesar Gonzales.

Naomi is survived by daughter, Sharon (Eudaldo) Castro and son, Clifford (Barbara) Downey; numerous relatives and a host of friends.
