Mary Ann Jernigan

Mary Ann Jernigan, 71, of Antlers, Oklahoma, passed from this life on March 5, 2025. She was born on September 28, 1953, to Doug and Monia Ramey in Houston, Texas. Mary spent her childhood in Achille, Oklahoma, and Denison, Texas, where she built a foundation of love, kindness, and dedication to family. Mary loved the Lord and leaves behind a legacy of faith to those she loved.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Mary’s greatest joy in life was being “Gigi” to her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Mary began her career as a nurse before transitioning to a full-time homemaker to raise her three children. Later in life, she pursued her passion for helping others by working as an EMT and firefighter for the Town and Country Fire Department in Tampa, Florida. She was a natural caregiver, always stepping in to help family members in need. If you were sick, injured, or hospitalized there was no one better to have by your side.
After the passing of the love of her life, Gary Jernigan, in 2017, Mary moved to Antlers, Oklahoma, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and their friends, enjoying outings, shopping, basketball games, and school events.

Mary is survived by her loving children: daughter Neile and son-in-law David of Antlers, Oklahoma; daughter Taylor and son-in-law Joe of Tampa, Florida; and son Aaron Jernigan and husband Rob of Tampa, Florida.
She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Vance and wife Kelsey, Jonah Vance, Joseph Vance and wife Faith, Grace Vance, Arya Madiedo, Allie Madiedo, and Matilda Madiedo, as well as her precious great-grandchildren: Harper, Hazel, and Cannon Vance.

Mary is also survived by her siblings: Marty Little of Denison, Texas; Kyle and Debbie Stokes of The Colony, Texas; Mona Swofford of Lake Dallas, Texas; and Michelle and Steve Fluitt of Ponder, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Gary Jernigan; her parents, Doug Ramey and Mackie Stokes; her grandparents, MacArthur and Goldia Phillips and Leonard and Willie Ramey; her sister, Sharia Nichols; brother-in-law, Richard Nichols; brother-in-law Danny Swofford.

Mary Ann Jernigan’s legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
