
Betty Merle Dean passed away March 3, 2025, at the age of 98.
She was born October 14, 1926, to William and Oma Goode in Boswell, Oklahoma.
Betty enjoyed cooking, reading and singing, and truly loved attending family reunions and holiday dinners and childhood community reunions in Boswell. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (a.k.a. Gammy or Gaga), great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and she loved her family unconditionally. She thoroughly enjoyed reading to her grandchildren and telling them stories she created or some about her childhood. She attended so many of their dance recitals, ball games, high school graduations, or just any activity they were involved in.
Betty is survived by her five children and their spouses: Roger and Karen Dean of Oklahoma City, David Dean of Mead, OK, Paul and Kelsie Dean of Eufaula, OK, Hilliary & Diane Dean of Durant, OK, and Kimberly and Terry Frost of Choctaw, OK, one sister Lillian (Tootie) of Talihina, OK, 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Dean, Randy Dean, Steven Dean, Courtney Dean, Casey Merchan, Conner White, Shayne White, Shannon Dean, Jeremy Brandon, and Kristen Ratzlaff, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Oma Goode, her beloved husband, Wayne Dean, grandson, Christopher Dean, and granddaughter, Rachelle Dean.
