John Ray Caterby

John Ray Carterby, 62, of Cove, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Medical City Dallas in Dallas, Texas. He was born on Sunday, December 2, 1962, to John Amos and Mary Lou Carterby in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

John was a man whose greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved nothing more than cheering them on at their sporting events, always their biggest fan and their most devoted supporter. He had a special way of making them feel loved and cherished, never missing an opportunity to spoil them.

John spent 23 years as a dedicated truck driver, working for Kastl Trucking, Tyson Foods, and SRT. He was with Tysons for 20 years, where his hard work and commitment earned him numerous driving awards. He took great pride in his career and the miles he traveled, always ensuring he did his job with excellence.

At home, John enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved tinkering in the yard, finding peace and satisfaction in working with his hands. Whether it was fixing something up or simply enjoying the outdoors, he found joy in staying busy and appreciating the little things in life.

John was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he shared will never fade.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Amos Carterby and Mary Lou Carterby; his wife, Lisa Carterby; one brother, Adam Carterby and one grandson, Cristian Carterby.

John is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Fay Bernadin of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his son and daughter in law, Cris and Elisha Carterby of Cove, Arkansas; three sisters, Melinda Simpson of Golden, Oklahoma, Bertha Going of Golden, Oklahoma, and Martha Carterby of Texas; three grandchildren, Summer Carterby, Chelsea Carterby and Cris Carterby Jr. all of Cove, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
